ACCIDENT
PREVENTION POLICY
(HEALTH AND
SAFETY AT WORK ETC ACT 1974)
It is the
policy of O.I.B that we shall properly implement, in the spirit as well as
the letter, all relevant statutory requirements which relate to accident
prevention, and provide a safe place of work and safe working conditions for
all its employee’s and others affected by their operations.
In
implementing this policy O.I.B. will apply the duty specified in section 2
(3) of the Health and Safety at work etc, Act 1974 and, in particular will
ensure that provision is made as far as is reasonably practicable for: -
(a)
The provision and maintenance of plant and
systems of work, that are safe and without risks to health.
(b)
Arranging safety and absence of risks to
health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of
articles and substance.
(c)
The maintenance of premises and any other
place of work in a condition that is safe and without risks to health, and
including the provision and maintenance of means of access to and egress
from such places.
(d)
The provision and maintenance of a working
environment for employees that is safe, without risk to health and adequate
as regards facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.
(e)
The provision of adequate information,
instruction, training and supervision.
(f)
Facilities for adequate communications,
consultations and publicity.
Where
necessary, O.I.B will control work systems through the issue of permits and
certificates, and operation of inspection procedures.
The General
Manger will keep the directors of O.I.B informed of all new legislation and
good accident prevention methods.
It is
condition of employment, as well as a statutory duty, for all employee’s
(managers, supervisors and operatives) to comply with the obligations laid
upon them by the factories Act 1961 Health and Safety at work etc,
introduced by O.I.B to prevent accidents.
In
circumstances where the safety policy is wilfully disregarded by an
employee, whether manager, supervisor or operative, in such a way as to
cause danger to life or limb, action will be taken against that person for
industrial misconduct, irrespectively of any proceedings which may be
brought by others.
